I just got the most heart wrenching news from my cousin. One of our distant cousins passed away trying to save his pregnant wife. You can read the story here. It's all over the news. Although, I was not very close to his family, I've known him for a very long time. He is a very nice man. Only 35. You can tell that he would give anything for the ones he loves. When I heard the horrible news, I just started shaking in disbelief. How can something like this happen to this person?! I still remember going to a Japanese flea market in Michigan and seeing him there with his wife and newborn child. They were so happy. I remember him smiling and saying hi to us. Life isn't fair. I feel so so so sorry for his family and wife. I'm happy that the baby is ok and that the wife survived. It's so sad, but sometimes incidents like these reminds us to always cherish the ones you love and never take anyone for granted.

Parent Interview 11/24/2008

Long time no blog. Well, I have been really busy....
On Sunday, I went to the Istria Cafe with my roomie Amanda to do hw without the distraction of internet. Istria Cafe is soooo cute and I loved their coffee and chocolate biscotti. I ordered a mocha and let me tell you, the two shots of expresso really got to me. I used to be not affected by caffiene at all, but boy was I jittery. Surprisingly, I wrote my entire paper when I was there. Yahooooo! Turned it in that day and received a 4.0 on it. Yes! BUT, I got 80/90 on my Unit Plan Project which is like a 3.0. BOOOOOOOOO! I guess grad school isn't as easy as I had hoped..... Anyway, my Hard Candy haul came today! Yahooooooo. The items I got are extremely CUTE! Pics and review later on. Although I do plan to give some as presents for Xmas. ;D

Anyway, about the Parent Interview Project....I interviewed one of my student's mom this morning and she was super nice and sweet. She told me she had fun and I gave my thanks and whatnot. After the interview, she asked if she could "talk to me outside"..... I was thinking, "Oh, she must be concerned about her daughter in the class or whatever". But, what she wanted was $5 from me for her to buy a bus pass. I felt horrible, because I did not bring my wallet. I also felt kind of uncomfortable....I don't know...I guess this is a reality of urban schools.

Ok ladies, there's a major sale going on at Hard Candy. 75% off EVERYTHING. No code needed. Have fun! I already stocked up. :D

I entered FUZZKITTIE's "mix & match" contest. You can read the rules and deets there, but basically I had to create three outfits from 5 main pieces. Here is what I came up with on the fly!.......

This is an outfit that I would wear to work as a receptionist. It is classy because of the pumps and chic sweater vest, but still shows a little fun side with the bright pink and red stripe dress inside along with the bold  spunky red belt.

This is an outfit perfect for Fall! I wear my hair in a high messy fun to go with the fun cowboy boots. I also wear a beautiful scarf from Thailand that my mom got me. Inside I wear the baisc grey v-neck, an essential in every closet! In Fall, layering is key!

In this outfit, I simply swapped the shoes and took off the belt from the first outfit. I accessorized with a pink leopard pattern scarf which is super cute. To make the pink pop even more, I am wearing low black heels with a pink heart on it. Super fun! I would wear this to hang out with friends or go shopping!

Today was the much anticipated release day for the COMME des GARCON collection at H&M. Only a very few selected (and lucky) cities in the U.S. will have it. The H&M on Michigan ave in Chicago is one of them. Unfortunately, I had to do my student teaching today and could not line up early. I did go straight after school though. Got there around 4:15 ish and nothing was left except a rack of a few items. The trench coat was left surprisingly. It costs $200, but I thought people would snatch that for sure. Also the pink and black button up shirts were left as well. $50 a piece. Expensive for H&M, but reasonable for COMME des GARCON. I snatched the pink button up shirt along with a hat from H&M's DIVIDED line. It was a steal at 70% off. :D

After going to H&M, I went to bloomingdale's for their Benefit Scavenger Hunt in celebration of the release of their new fragrance b-spot. It was a waste of time. I was looking through the hosiery section and could not find it, but I did find good deals. Got a few pair of UBER kawaii Betsey Johnson socks. Yay! After paying for my socks, I asked the cashier to give me hints  but she gave me the magnify glass for the scavenger hunt! So I was all giddy and happy only to find out that I did not win anything except a "free" makeup lesson by the benefit saleswoman (like it's not free any other day....). I also go the sample of their new perfume (like I can't get that for free if I asked....). Anyway, determined to find a magnify glass with a star sticker to win the full size bottle of fragrance, I scowered a few levels only to find a bunch without the sticker. I was tired and hungry and disappointed, so I left and got Starbucks on the way home. What an overall disappointing day...

btw, b-spot did smell good, but very similar to something that is out already....can't put my finger on what it is....also their cheek stain is awesome...but at $28, I'd rather get NARS orgasm.

I made this video for Jinahchae's contest on YouTube. We had to redo a makeup guru's look using only drugstore products only! Super challenging. I ended up choosing one of my favorite guru Xteeener's Bright Fun Tropical look.

The Pub 11/09/2008

as you can see, we were both quite tired....rhea woke up at 4am and i woke up at 7am to workout.... **sigh**

Karen and Zack came to visit this weekend. They stayed at my place. Rhea and Alan came as well, but stayed at a hotel. They went to the SOFA exhibit at Navy Pier. They came and we all went to the underground pub called The Pub on U of C campus. It was a really cool chill place. I really really like it. They had an endless selection of beer. I definitely plan to go back. :) Cheers!

As I was sitting in class today, I realized that it was dballz and my 6 month anni! wahahha I'm glad we both don't pay attention to dates. haha 6 months already.....crazy~~ I've know him for way longer, but yea kekekek

I'm pretty disgusted with what I've been seeing in the mirror lately. Horrifying. I thought I'd be able to lose weight moving to Chicago, but I've actually gotten really fat and blubbery. Being at school from 8:30 till 3:00 takes a toll on my energy. With so many things on my imaginary "To Do" list, I just keep making excuses for myself to not work out as hard or even skip it entirely. I also eat too much when I come home from school cause I am so fricken tired and I think that tricks my mind into thinking I need sugar and carbs NOW! **sigh** Anyway, I just thought I'd declare that I am going to lose weight and tone up! I promise! It's a promise to myself and to YOU!
